All Debts, Public and Private
Store clerks noticed the unusual texture of the $50
and $100 bills. The bills were too
thick, and looked like something you’d make on a copying machine, covered on
both sides with some sort of greasy, translucent material. Still, their special pens said the currency
was good, so what could they do?
Police never had the chance to bring the
counterfeiter they came to call “The Mummy” to justice. He was found dead in his apartment, exsanguinated,
wrapped head to toe in bandages covering a bloody patchwork of rectangular
scars in varying stages of healing.
